Club contest at Munich Toastmasters – Review

Club Contest 15-9-15-5What a fantastic club contest we had last Tuesday, 15/9/2015. Lorenzo was the contest chair and led us perfectly through this wonderful evening.

Six table topic speeches about the change of coffee flavor over the last decades and two wonderful humorous speeches about marriage and just a normal working day. I was not aware that normal life as a married man and a working person in the office can be so funny. It was so good to laugh! Thanks to all who were there to make this such a good event.

Here you can see the table topic contestants:

Club Contest 15-9-15-1

And the winners of the table topic contest were:

  • #1 Damion
  • #2 Clarissa
  • #3 Edgar

Here, you can see the contestants and winners of the humorous speech contest together with Lorenzo, the contest chair and president and the chief judge Carlos:

Club Contest 15-9-15-2

  • #1 Paul
  • #2 JP

Congratulations to the winners of these contests but also to all contestants. Winning is not what counts most but getting out of your comfort zone and participating in a contest. That’s it already!

Club Contest 15-9-15-3However, even though we laughed a lot we also had mixed feelings (in German we say “observing something with a laughing and a crying eye”). And this was because our President Lorenzo Gios had decided to leave us and Munich and to go back to Italy. While we wish him all the best for his future endeavors we will miss him a lot.

Ciao Lorenzo, good luck and hopefully see you soon!

Club Contest 15-9-15-4

Clarissa Muschner will be the interim President in addition to her VP Education role until Martin Mittermaier will take over in November. Thanks, Clarissa, for filling the gap.

See you all at the next Munich Toastmasters evening on 6 October 2015.

Speech contest on 15th September at Munich Toastmasters

On 2015, 15th December our club Munich Toastmasters will hold a speech contest for

  • Humorous speeches:
Contestants present a five- to seven- minute speech on any subject they choose. Here you can find 5 tips for winning a humrous speech contest: Humorous speech contest tips
  • Table topics:
An impromptu speech, all contestants are assigned the same topic, told to them when they are introduced by the contest chair.

Competition begins at the club level, and winners advance to the area, division and district levels.

All members are eligible to participate in both contests. However, for the humorous speech contest the member should have held at least his or her icebreaker speech.

This is a great event promising an interesting and funny evening you do not want to miss. Are you ready for the next challenge? Do you have something funny to tell us coming back from vacation? Relax, you still have plenty of time (one month) to prepare. Please also remember that you do not need any preparation at all for the table topic contest.

For those members not participating in the contest, we are still looking for people taking over the following roles for the evening:

  • Chief judge
  • Judges
  • Tabletopic master
  • Contest chair

Members interested to participate and help should contact our President Lorenzo, also for receiving more information.

Guests are welcome to come and watch.
